August 13, 2013

As the government has eased restrictions on third-party payment, Taiwanese computer game developer Soft-World said that it will launch a platform for third-party online payment as early as the fourth quarter of 2013, according to Taiwan's Commercial Times on August 13.The platform is based on the company's current stored value card business, dubbed MyCard, that has reached five million active members per month across Taiwan, China, and Southeast Asia. Soft-World will cooperate with banks and transactions on its platform are not limited to the company's own products.

According to MIC, the Taiwanese e-commerce market volume reached NT$660 billion (US$22 billion; US$1 = NT$29.947) in 2012. Of which at least NT$100 billion were done via small-amount payment, which is considered a promising market for its third-party payment business, said Soft-World.
